Women in tea and coffee

Tea is essential to many people's livelihoods in Malawi but the country faces a lot of challenges that women and girls are particularly exposed to. 'Ulalo' is designed to support financial empowerment and stability and reduce the risks of exploitation – especially for women.

We're proud to be working on a collaborative project working with ActionAid in Kenya to improve livelihoods for smallholder farmers and informal workers while creating an environment where women’s and human rights are upheld, protected and respected.

Women living and working on large tea estates Assam face deep-rooted challenges, to which women and children are especially exposed. Many young people leave school without a proper education and with limited opportunities for the future. We're proud to support The ETP Unicef programme - a ground breaking project to help change the lives of thousands of children living in Assam.

We work with estates in Assam who are committed to improving standards – we’ve spent a lot of time here building long term relationships with suppliers where there’s greatest potential for us to make a difference.

With the ETP, we've helped to establish a Plantation Community Empowerment Programme which has proven to be so powerful in making a difference that we’re now rolling it out to every estate that we work with in the region.
