Environmental Footprint
Addressing climate change and helping to mitigate our environmental impact is crucial to thesurvival of our planet.
We’ve been working hard for many years to reduce and offset our emissions and that continues to be a priority into the future. Our projects have focused on all sorts of things, from planting trees at home and abroad, to increasing the use of solar panels in our operations, which all helps to reduce and offset our carbon footprint.
Most environmental projects take years of planning and careful thought to deliver, and at any one time we have several different projects underway. However, this can’t be done alone, which is why we’ve partnered with several amazing organisations which we’ll tell you more about, including World Coffee Research, who aim to create a sustainable future for the coffee industry.
Tackling climate change and addressing our environmental footprint can seem like a daunting challenge, but one we can’t ignore.
Climate Change
Our planet is changing fast. Global temperatures are rising and heatwaves, droughts and flash flooding are affecting some of the most vulnerable parts of the world and impacting farmers producing tea and coffee.
Products & packaging
We’re working hard to make our products as sustainable as possible on the inside and out.
World Coffee Research
The rising temperature of the planet has a dramatic impact on the future of coffee. World Coffee Research are finding was to mitigate the effect of climate change by creating new breeds through farmer trials, hoping to find new coffee varieties that can survive these warmer temperatures.
Plastics & Circularity
We’re committed to removing single use, unnecessary plastics from our products. We know this won’t be an easy or quick job, but we’re making progress and we want to make sure we do this right.
At home
To protect our planet, we need to focus on every element of our supply chain, and that includes our operations in the UK. We’re based in Pagoda House, Harrogate — this is where we blend our tea and roast our coffee.
In the last few years we’ve done lots of work in our factory and office to reduce emissions, manage waste and make it a happy place for all our employees — and there’s more exciting work to come, so watch this space.
