Honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been honoured in this year’s Queen’s Awards for Enterprise – one of the UK’s most renowned business awards.
Our Group business (Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate) has been awarded for outstanding achievement in Sustainable Development — recognising our unique approach to sourcing tea and coffee, which puts quality, strong relationships and sustainability at its heart.
The 2022 Queen’s Awards celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of British businesses and this is the fourth time we have been granted a Queen’s Award – receiving previous Awards in recognition of our commitment to sustainable stakeholder relationships and most recently in 2017 for our approach to improving standards throughout our tea and coffee supply chain — a supply chain that reaches more than one million tea and coffee farmers and workers in 22 countries.
Nearly ten years ago, we created Taylors Sourcing Approach (TSA) – a way to secure and reward quality tea and coffee by further integrating sustainability into our sourcing, which was co-created with our suppliers. Thanks to TSA, since 2017 we’ve been able to work with our suppliers to support 168 social and environmental projects in 15 countries. Projects range from clean-water and education initiatives to our long-term tree planting partnership that has now planted nearly three million trees with around 8800 tea farmers – sequestering carbon and providing valuable secondary incomes, along with shade and food.
During the Covid Pandemic we used our sourcing approach to help mitigate the impact of the pandemic on our suppliers, including the establishment of a global Emergency Relief Fund to get vital support to supplier communities where it was most needed.

Now in their 56th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are presented in four categories – International Trade, Innovation, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility. The winners are selected under strict judging criteria, against significant competition. The Awards are made each year by the Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister and her panel of judges.
