Supporting our people and local community during Covid 19

(Update May 2020)
In an ever-changing situation, we’re doing all we can to deliver our tea and coffee to as many people as possible, while prioritising the safety of our people here in Harrogate. There have been plenty of changes at our factory as we adapt to government advice, but proper brews are still making their way out to supermarkets and we have plans in place to keep it that way.
The majority of our people are now working from home and only our key workers remain on site, such as those on production lines. Where people remain at work, we’ve implemented rigorous hygiene and social distancing measures. And, through on-going communication with our people, we’re regularly reinforcing government advice regarding self-isolation for suspected symptoms and hygiene, while supporting them through this everchanging situation. We’re updating our people regularly and putting measures in place to support mental as well as physical wellbeing.
Our Yorkshire Communities
To support our local communities, we’ve been getting our tea and coffee into the hands of NHS and social care workers in our local area. We can’t thank them enough for the work they’re doing day in, day out. We’re also keen to help organisations helping the vulnerable and isolated. Yorkshire Tea has been included in befriending and activity packs sent to elderly and vulnerable people with letters from volunteers.
Supporting our regional Coronavirus Community Fund
Charities across the country have had to galvanise their efforts and energies to support the most vulnerable during lockdown – while sadly, with much fundraising activity on hold, many have seen income drop dramatically. To help charities through this difficult period, the National Emergencies Trust has been working with the Government and regional community foundations to ensure charities have the resources required to provide help where it’s needed.
The Two Ridings Community Foundation are the organisation working in our region – and to support their vital work we’ve donated £110,000 to their Coronavirus Community Fund. The Fund provides emergency grants to charities and groups, so that they can cope with an increase in demand for their services or adapt the way they work.
Beyond, the initial emergency relief phase, the Fund will also help charities survive and recover for the future so that when life returns back to normal, they’ll be to continue to offer their vital services.
